How to Generate Favicons Online
Upload your logo or image and generate a complete favicon package instantly. Pixores creates favicon.ico, Apple Touch Icons, Android icons and web manifest files required by modern websites.
A favicon package needs more than one tiny file because browser tabs, bookmarks, iOS home screens, Android launchers, and manifests use different sizes. Pixores generates a ZIP with common PNG sizes, an ICO-compatible file, and a web manifest.
Start from a simple square mark with generous padding. Fine text and thin detail disappear at 16 by 16 pixels, so review the smallest output rather than judging only the large source.
Behavior and limits reviewed against the current Pixores implementation on August 14, 2026.- Input
- A square logo or image
- Outputs
- 16, 32, 180, 192, and 512 px
- Package
- ZIP with icons and manifest
- Orientation
- Normalized before resizing
What we verified for this tool
This record describes a reproducible product check, not a stock claim about image quality.
- Reference scenario
- Square brand mark supplied as the package master
- Review method
- Generate the ZIP, enumerate its files, and open the smallest PNG at its actual pixel size.
- Observed behavior
- The package includes 16, 32, 180, 192, and 512 pixel assets together with favicon and manifest files.
- Known boundary
- The generator cannot make detailed lettering legible at 16 pixels; the source mark must be simplified first.
How to use this tool
- Prepare a square source with a transparent or intentional background.
- Remove tiny words and leave breathing room around the mark.
- Generate and download the favicon package.
- Inspect 16 px and 32 px files at actual size.
- Install the declared files and verify their production URLs.
When it is a good fit
- New websites
- Replacing framework placeholder icons
- PWA manifests
- Consistent browser and device branding
Limitations to check
- A detailed logo may become unreadable.
- Transparent marks need enough contrast in light and dark browser themes.
- Caching can delay favicon updates after deployment.
File handling and privacy
The source logo is uploaded to the Pixores favicon endpoint to create the downloadable package.
Frequently asked questions
Why are several sizes necessary?
Different browser and device contexts request different icon dimensions and file declarations.
Why does the old icon still appear?
Favicons are cached aggressively. Confirm the new URLs first, then test with a fresh profile or after cache invalidation.
Should the favicon contain the full brand name?
Usually not. A simple mark or initial survives tiny rendering more reliably than a wordmark.
